AGQ Labs will be presenting its wide experience on Nitrate Leaching Management during the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board Meeting on next May 11th at Central Coast Water Board Offices in San Luis Obispo, California
Nitrate Leaching has been on the loop in California during the last decade. It is a reality that the Nitrogen applied on the field is not totally absorbed by the plant and the excess is transported (leached) to the groundwater. According to the California Nitrogen Assessment (CAN), fresh fruits and veggies only use half of the nitrogen applied to them and the rest is susceptible to loss.
One of the main goals to reduce the nitrate leaching is to inform the growers about how much Nitrogen to apply, when to apply and where. For this purpose, AGQ Labs and its Crop Nutritional Monitoring Program helps any grower to know the amount of Nitrogen that must be applied. This Program is based on the comprehensive control of the Soil-Plant-Water system.
