Ethephon
Ethephon is the most widely used plant growth regulator in the world. Plants metabolize ethephon into ethylene fairly quickly and food producers use it to help plant's fruit reach ripeness more quickly. Ethephon is approved for use in the US for a variety of different products under 40 CFR 180.300.
