AGQ Labs USA attended the 25th Annual Citrus Showcase on last March 8th at the Visalia Convention Center in California
The Citrus Showcase is organized by California Citrus Mutual (CCM). The Mutual was founded in 1977 by those who felt the need to unite their fellow growers into a cohesive, powerful force. In its earliest days, CCM’s mission was to deliver price information and market data to growers. Over the years, its mission has expanded to meet the growing and changing needs of the industry. CCM is the only advocacy organization representing California citrus growers on the economic, regulatory, and political issues that impact them most. They are a voluntary, non-profit trade association dedicated to enhancing the sustainability of the California citrus industry by advocating for sound, reasonable policy that allows for fair competition in the market place. Their 2,500 members represent 75% of California 270,000 acre, $3.3 billion citrus industry.
It is their mission to represent the California citrus grower and share with members of the public, the legislature, regulatory agencies, and others how the citrus industry supports the economic and environmental health of California and its people. As the industry’s primary advocate, CCM promotes and creates beneficial policies that protect growers from escalating costs and regulations. Much of our work is subjective in nature, but there is a tangible return on investment for membership in CCM.
CCM engages in matters ranging from trade, to air quality regulations, pest and disease issues, pesticide regulation, labor, water, and federal and state legislation on behalf of the California citrus industry. CCM members are citrus growers of all size and scale. From 5 acres to 5,000 acres and more, they equally represent the interests of all California citrus growers.

Our Agronomy Director, Kenny Lam and his team met with many CCM members and other agribusiness professionals to explain the solutions AGQ Labs can provide as a Control Laboratory and Technological Center.
It was a good opportunity to give more details about the services provided by AGQ Labs USA, although 3 were the main topics:
- Cell Wall Calcium: this analysis is a diagnostic tool for evaluating quality parameters related to the appearance and market life of the product. AGQ Labs has developed a state-of-the-art analysis of the Cell Wall Calcium fraction in fruit, a good tool for diagnosing alterations in pre- and post-harvest quality
- Soil Factory Lab: a new approach to laboratory analysis for agricultural soils. Our high-tech equipment and production design allows us to offer the best response times and the most competitive pricing on the market. Soil Factory Lab combines our extensive experience and training in agricultural soil analysis with the most advanced laboratory equipment for total automation of the analytical processes needed.
- Crop Nutritional Monitoring: AGQ Labs has been monitoring and evaluating the chemical needs of crops for over 20 years and we have helped clients around the world increase crop production, improve product quality and size, optimize fertilizer and water usage, control salinity and establish zero pesticide leaching methods. AGQ Labs has developed an internal proprietary procedure for crop nutritional monitoring and control that is based on the analysis of soil solutions that are extracted by AGQ Labs’ patented suction lysimeter probes.
